Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a NICU night shift position at a Level 2 unit, requiring a CO or compact RN license and neonatal intensive care experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Level 2) within an acute care hospital setting
  • Six-bed NICU with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1–3 babies
  • Night shifts (12 hours) with 6–9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
  • Schedule created by leadership for 6 weeks at a time; flexibility to fill schedule gaps is expected
  • Patient population includes hypoglycemia, IV antibiotics, mild respiratory distress, phototherapy, pre-term infants, and some neonatal withdrawal cases
  • NICU RNs attend C-sections and vaginal deliveries and may be asked to care for stable postpartum mothers and babies
  • Epic EMR is used for all charting and documentation
  • Holiday rotation may be required
  • Rare on-call requirements for low census
  • Unit-specific orientation is provided with 1–3 shifts alongside a preceptor
  • NICU RNs provide primary care for neonates, attend deliveries, and support common NICU interventions and procedures
  • Blue hospital scrubs are provided for staff
  • All requested time off must be submitted before the start of the assignment
  • First week orientation must be attended in-state even if remote modules are completed
  • Training is available for candidates willing to learn postpartum care
  • Participation in holiday shift rotation may be requested

  • Active CO or compact RN license is required at the time of application
  • BLS certification (AHA) is required
  • Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience is required
  • Must be willing to learn basic postpartum mother & baby care if no previous experience
  • Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred
  • Must live at least 60 miles from the facility (as determined by driver's license)
  • References including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years are required for consideration
  • Copy of driver's license is required
  • Candidates must not have been employed by affiliated facilities within the past year
