Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Location: Remote in Canada, working Manitoba Hours

Employment: 36 month contract - 12 month initial with two 12 month extensions

 

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Director, Major Programs, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the performance, scope, and deliverables of a Nova project stream or multiple streams. The role involves managing direct and indirect project staff, including consultants and vendor partners, to ensure timely and high-quality project execution.

The Senior Project Manager will oversee complex, cross-functional project plans with integrated deliverables, timelines, and dependencies. Using Agile methodologies and project management tools like Azure DevOps, this position will drive project success, maintain RAID (Risks, Actions, Issues, and Decisions) logs, and escalate issues as necessary.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management (100%)

  • Develop, execute, and manage project stream plans using Agile methodology and ceremonies (e.g., Program Increment Planning, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives).
  • Oversee project schedules, financials, milestones, deliverables, and action items in alignment with a gating methodology.
  • Manage and release key deliverables for acceptance/approval.
  • Coordinate and track project tasks to ensure execution aligns with objectives, escalating issues when required.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between vendors and the organization to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Maintain and escalate RAID (Risks, Actions, Issues, Decisions) logs in Azure DevOps, driving resolution when needed.
  • Facilitate daily and weekly Scrum meetings and provide project updates, highlighting risks, issues, dependencies, and blockers.
  • Identify and manage cross-stream dependencies and constraints to reduce delivery risks.
  • Ensure governance structures are maintained and followed throughout the project.
  • Define and assess project success criteria and quality measures.
  • Collaborate with the Nova Project Management Team to ensure consistency, resolve conflicts, and share best practices.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience managing projects with large System Integrator vendors in complex enterprise environments.
  • Exceptional vendor contract management experience, including:
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
    • High contract awareness and risk management expertise.
    • Experience with contract milestones, indemnities, terms, and deliverables.
    • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts between vendors and stakeholders.
  • Experience with digital applications, such as Microsoft Dynamics and web portal development (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Agile project management methodologies and experience with Azure DevOps or similar project management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle RAID processes effectively.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, including vendors and consultants, in an Agile environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while adhering to project governance structures.
