Overview: Our client, a major PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Services) entity owned by 20 non-profit health plans serving over 33 million members and benefits manager of government programs including Medicare and Medicaid, seeks an accomplished Pharmacy Technician .
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician (Work from Home)
Location: West Sacramento, CA (Remote work for California Residents Only)
Duration: 6 months+ temp-to-hire!!!
Must-Have Requirements:
California State Board of Pharmacy license (REQUIRED)
High-speed wired Internet connection (no Wi-Fi) with at least 150MBPS speed
Reliable home-office environment
Job Description:
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for evaluating and authorizing approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers received by telephone and/or fax using client criteria.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and authorize prior authorization requests.
Follow established clinical criteria and procedures for approval.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Collaborate with team members and pharmacists to ensure compliance.
Respond to escalated concerns calmly and professionally to prevent further escalation.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
2-4 years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
California State Pharmacy Technician Certification (REQUIRED).
Additional Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of specialty injectable prescription drugs, disease states, and formulary management.
Understanding of medical terminology, diagnostic and reimbursement coding (J/Q codes, ICD-9, CMS 1500, etc.).
Proficiency in pharmacy computerized systems, software applications, and MS Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Specialty or retail pharmacy industry experience.
Previous reimbursement or health plan/health care setting experience.
