Job Description

Overview Warehouse Senior Industrial Engineer - Start-ups (remote) Role summary: This position supports the Ryder Continuous Improvement culture across the operation by actively applying continuous improvement methods to support new and existing operations. The Engineer will identify and drive change within the operation through data driven CI, Engineering, and Automation efforts to deliver higher levels of performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role interfaces with employees at all levels and functions across the operation and reports to the Lead Engineer, CI Manager or Sr. CI Manager, closely aligned with Operations Management. Essential Functions Collects data and performs statistical analysis. Maps and documents processes. Independently identifies process gaps; recommends and implements process improvement. Develop and manage a thorough, effective, and timely continuous improvement plan to drive value for our customers (transformation plan development and execution). Drive process improvement activities to achieve tangible improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee development. Manages and completes CI and steady-state engineering projects that lead to improved business results. Assesses CI initiatives and provides input and recommendations on future activities. Support go-live and steady state certifications. Identify and support Automation projects. Regularly interacts with operations management and/or customer(s). Develop and demonstrate competency in a wide range of engineering methods, Lean tools, and quality standards and coach employees in the use and implementation of CI, Quality Assurance, & Lean principles. Apply methodologies/tools such as product slotting, time studies, layouts and flow optimization, data profiling and analysis, and resource modeling to improve distribution and/or transportation operations. Lead Value Stream Mapping & Kaizen Events through all stages (A3 charter ideation/creation, pre-work identification and completion, delivery of results in Kaizen week, sustainment). Coach process owners on lean methods to achieve operational excellence. Provide regular reports of data and actions to measure progress against site objectives. Make inventory and/or supply chain strategy recommendations. Additional Responsibilities Design, implement, monitor and maintain the QMS based on established company and/or industry standards Implement and monitor a standardized corrective action system Support regulatory compliance and certification requirements Perform all functions related to Quality Assurance for a start-up or expansion Performs other duties as assigned Skills And Abilities Effective interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication Ability to build professional relationships across all levels (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors) Flexible and self-driven in a fast-paced environment Multi-tasking, highly organized with excellent time management System and change implementation skills; ability to work independently and as a leader or team member Ability to manage cross-functional CI projects from start to sustained results Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint) & Visio at expert level Data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX) intermediate Experience with Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, 5S Understanding of core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics) intermediate Warehouse design tools (CAD such as AutoCAD, Slot3D), MOST, WMS (e.g., Manhattan Scale), and Labor Mgmt Systems, with intermediate preference Knowledge of WMS operations, data analytics, Lean methods; automation types (PIT, AS/RS), conveyor/sortation equipment Knowledge of Dedicated Services and Managed Transportation Networks Equipment knowledge: dry van, temperature control, flat bed, etc. Transportation Design Tools e.g., JDA, Appian; Network Design Tools e.g., Llamasoft; Mapping Tools e.g., Tableau; intermediate preferred Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ISO/QMS preferred; APICS or related certifications preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 5+ years in Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing; or Master’s degree with 3+ years related experience. MBA holders: undergraduate degree in Engineering. Microsoft Office Suite expertise (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio); data visualization and SQL/DAX experience preferred Experience with Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, 5S, and related lean methods Understanding of slotting, utilization, labor planning, layouts, and metrics Warehouse design tools and WMS/Labor systems experience; knowledge of automation and material handling solutions Travel: 50% - 75% Travel 50% - 75% DOT Regulated None Job Category Continuous Improvement Compensation and Benefits Salaried position; pay range 95,000 - 105,000 (minimum to maximum). Final compensation based on experience and other factors.
