About This Role:

World Distribution Services, a World Group company, is currently looking for a supportive person to join our family as an Operations Manager for our growing warehouse in Savannah!

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing all financial and operational aspects of the facility. This will include managing and leading employees as well as a large staff of temporary workers. This role directly interfaces with our customers in an effort to build and maintain a positive working relationship on behalf of the organization as well as develop new business opportunities for the branch. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Devan and sort floor loaded and palletized containers at a high rate of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate communication between inbound and outbound support team as well as customers related to their in and out requests.
  • Closely manage yard space by working with drayage provider to keep containers moving in and out of the facility in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with staffing agency to adjust daily manpower based on forecast
  • Administer policies and guidelines that directly affect work activities.
  • Interview and hire new employees.
  • Responsible for creating and supporting a positive work environment by observing and coaching employees on proper job-related behaviors and providing timely feedback on necessary action plans.
  • Set and communicate clear expectations for team members regarding expected productivity results.
  • Write annual performance evaluations for operations support members.
  • Ensure that KPI's and accuracy standards meet facility and customer objectives.
  • Drive production and control cost to deliver targeted levels of profitability
  • Ensure all revenue opportunities are captured and billed accurately
  • Full P&L Responsibility
  • Supervise and control the release of orders to the warehouse to ensure timely delivery to customers and meeting company efficiency goals
  • Improve efficiency, quality, and service of ongoing work by identifying process improvements and using best judgment to determine next steps for influencing change and partnering with leadership to resolve.
  • Manage, inventory, order and store shipping and packing supplies.
  • Responsible for facility and equipment maintenance.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • College degree in Business, Logistics of related field is preferred
  • 5+ years management experience in a Distribution environment, third-party experience preferred
  • Experience in a multi-faceted distribution center environment where you were responsible for direct supervision of multiple employees that were comprised of company and temporary agency members.
  • Should have a background and general comfort in dealing with matters related to customer service, direct internal and external customer communication, and the ability to balance customer needs while driving designated goals.
  • A strong back ground in 3PL specific KPI development and measurements.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
