Job Details

• Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse position at Carlsbad Medical Center.
• Responsible for nursing care during antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum (mom and baby), and special care nursery babies.
• Accountable for providing care during antepartum, intrapartum, immediate postpartum, and neonatal phases of Obstetrical care.
• Utilizes Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.
• Demonstrates critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning safe delivery of care.
• Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education.
• Delegates patient care priorities and supervises assigned personnel delivering patient care.

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience required.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP.
• Fingerprinting required for all New Mexico travelers.

Schedule Information

• Shift: Days, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
• No floating required.
• No call required.
• 48-hour guarantees not approved.
• Blocked scheduling not approved.

Unit Specific Information

• Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit.
• LDRP unit (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) providing care to antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum, and neonatal patients.

Additional Details

• Patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:4.
• Electronic Medical Records used: MedHost (inpatient), GE Centricity (OB), Athena (Clinic).
• Number of beds: 1 Triage, 3 Labor, 4 Post-Partum.
• LDRP unit provides nursing care to antepartum triage, active labor, postpartum, and special care nursery babies.
