Structural Estimator - Commercial Construction

Our client, a leading commercial construction company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Concrete Estimator to join their team in Spring, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from churches and schools to retail spaces and mid-rise structures, with an average project size of $2.5 million.

Position Summary:

The Concrete Estimator will be responsible for accurately preparing detailed cost estimates by analyzing proposals, project drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents. This role requires a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of concrete construction processes and the ability to effectively communicate with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed concrete takeoffs and generate accurate cost estimates.
• Analyze project proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents to identify labor, material, and time requirements.
• Compute costs by evaluating labor, material, and time requirements.
• Resolve discrepancies by gathering and analyzing information.
• Present prepared estimates clearly and concisely, utilizing numerical and descriptive data.
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing cost analyses and trends.
• Maintain and update cost databases.
• Stay current with industry’s best practices and technical advancements through continuous learning.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project goals.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and promote a safe work environment.
• Effectively communicate with clients, general contractors, project managers, architects, engineers, consultants, and owners to resolve project-related issues.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of commercial construction experience.
• Minimum 5 years of specialized experience in commercial concrete estimation.
• Proven ability to supervise and lead personnel.
• Proficient in detailed concrete takeoffs.
• Strong analytical, planning, and reporting skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex information.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook).
• Experience with estimating software is required.
• Familiarity with PlanGrid is preferred.
• Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and manage revisions to project plans.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in an office environment and occasionally visit construction sites.
• Ability to travel within a 70-mile radius of the Houston metropolitan area.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to navigate construction sites including uneven surfaces, excavations, and high places.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots and fall protection.
