*Hourly Pay: $72/hr || Location: Oklahoma City, OK || Contract: 13 Weeks*

*Job Summary:*

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Trauma Center 1 setting. The RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality, urgent, and compassionate care to pediatric trauma patients ranging from simple to complex cases. The RN will assist in trauma resuscitation, emergency procedures, and care management, working alongside trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

*Essential Responsibilities:*
* *Patient Care:* Assume responsibility for a group of pediatric trauma patients, ensuring timely and competent nursing care from admission to discharge.
* *Assessment & Monitoring:* Monitor patient vitals and health status, observing for changes in conditions. Document patient responses to nursing interventions, prescribed medical treatments, and physician orders.
* *Assist in Trauma Procedures:* Assist physicians and trauma surgeons during emergency procedures and surgeries. Participate in trauma resuscitations and other urgent interventions as part of the trauma team.
* *Medications & IV Therapy:* Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient reactions. Regulate and monitor intravenous infusions, blood products, and other treatment protocols in pediatric trauma care.
* *Collaboration:* Collaborate with the trauma team, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients.
* *Patient and Family Communication:* Communicate clearly with patients and their families, explaining care plans, procedures, and expected outcomes. Provide emotional support to families in high-stress situations.
* *Discharge Planning:* Assist with planning for safe discharge, ensuring families have proper instructions and follow-up care for their child’s recovery.
* *Delegation:* Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing assistants, support staff, and other healthcare professionals as needed.

*General Responsibilities:*
* Provide high-level trauma nursing services in a pediatric setting with attention to detail and clinical excellence.
* Participate in ongoing education, training, and certification in pediatric trauma care to maintain current practices.
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and trauma center operations.
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or hospital management.

*Required Skills & Experience:*
* *Minimum of 1 year* of experience in a pediatric or pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
* Knowledge of pediatric trauma care practices, including emergency trauma procedures, resuscitation, and monitoring techniques.
* Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, especially during trauma resuscitation or critical care procedures.
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a dynamic setting.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare team members, including physicians, surgeons, and specialists.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
* Ability to meet the cultural and language needs of diverse pediatric patient populations.
* Basic computer skills, including familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical documentation.

*Required Education:*
* Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.

*Preferred Education:*
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a Board-approved program, especially in pediatric nursing or trauma nursing.

* RN License (Oklahoma or Multistate).
* *BLS (Basic Life Support)* through AHA.
* *PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)* through AHA.
