Job Title: Reading Specialist / Literacy Coordinator Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND)-Brighton, CO FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Dean of Student Services Work Days: Full-Time, M-F, School, and professional development days* *Please note you will need to attend training in Hillsdale, MI for up to 10 days in June. Travel to the conference, lodging, and food will be covered by ACACS and Hillsdale Desired Start Date: August 1, 2025 Salary Range: $ 42,000-48,000 annually Essential Functions: This position will serve as the primary onsite trainer in early literacy and reading support for teachers, including modeled instruction, observations, evaluations, etc. Conduct assessments to identify students' reading levels, strengths, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement individualized reading instruction plans based on assessment data and students' needs. Provide targeted intervention and support to students who are struggling with reading skills Management of compliance and programming under READ Act Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and other specialists to support the literacy needs of all students. Professional Development: Stay current on research-based best practices in literacy instruction and participate in professional development opportunities. Analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed. Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and strategies for support at home. Resource Management: Manage resources such as books, materials, and technology to support effective reading instruction. Coordinate the administration of all the school's DIBELS assessment Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations. READ Act Certified, preferred (must be willing to obtain certification) Literacy Essentials and Orton Gillingham trained, preferred (willingness to learn) Strong background in relevant content areas with a willingness to receive specific training Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively articulate information and issues Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their personal best Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment with superior organization and computer skills Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and team members Ability to provide excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability to challenges Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing to teach Must be able to supervise outdoor recess if required Mandatory Background Checks: In alignment with our commitment to student safety, all candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and may require fingerprinting.
