Radiology Technical Assistant The Radiology Technical Assistant is a vital part of the Radiology healthcare team, working under the supervision of radiologic technologists and department management. The role involves assisting technologists during routine procedures, such as lifting, transporting, setting up patients, and guiding patients in and out of the Radiology suite. The assistant also helps with scheduling imaging exams and answering phone calls. Reporting directly to the Director of Radiology and the Lead MRI Technologist, the responsibilities include: Supporting efficient daily operations and patient workflow. Providing safe and compassionate care to patients of all ages. Following proper Patient Identification Processes and hospital policies, including HIPAA and Hand Hygiene. Assisting patients identified as falls risk and exercising sound judgment under pressure. Locating emergency equipment and understanding the importance of calling the Code Team versus the Rapid Response Team. Monitoring and replenishing department supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Assisting with patient positioning, moving, and lifting during exams. Expediting patient transport and maintaining professional communication. Building positive relationships with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare providers. Utilizing EPIC, phone, and paging systems effectively. Demonstrating safety within the MRI environment, including screening for contraindications and adhering to MRI safety zones. Maintaining cleanliness, aseptic technique, and radiation safety principles. Possessing knowledge of medical terminology and radiology procedures. Communicating effectively with patients under stress and adhering to safety standards and policies. Performing physical duties required for the role. Minimum qualifications include: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Some college or an associate degree preferred. Ability to work with patients.
