Job Description

Under the supervision of the Supervising Program Technician II, the Program Technician (PT) II in the Quality Update and Expedite Section performs the more difficult and complex duties associated with the update of criminal and applicant information to the Automated Criminal History System. The PT II reviews and examines source documents and converts records from manual to automated formats; processes documents in error resolution; consolidates multiple records; and disseminates information accurately and in a timely manner. The PT II identifies data which does not conform to legal, procedural, and policy requirements and initiates action as needed. The PT II may be required to answer questions as well as assist in the review of work for employees undergoing training.

Working Conditions


This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Remote and hybrid schedules are subject to management approval. In addition, approved remote and hybrid schedules may be delayed for training purposes.

This position is located in the California Justice Information Services Division, Bureau of Criminal Information & Analysis, Record Management Branch, Criminal Record Expedite & Support Program, Quality Update & Expedite Section.
