Overview In this full-time onsite role, the Process Operator will perform a variety of manually value-added processes within several manufacturing areas which may include electroplating housing and connectors, chem-filming manufactured products, mark-up and touch up; processes follow established procedures within the traveler document. The employee may perform and know at a minimum one or more processes within each of the areas in one of the following labs: plating, etching, mark-up, touch-up and/or chem-film. The role is based at our San Diego facility. Responsibilities Major Duties & Responsibilities Plating Lab Receives raw material from machine shop (aluminum, steel, covar and brass); preps parts. Places parts on rack; performs the required procedures according to the traveler. Inspects plated circuits for defects; handles and works around hazardous chemicals. Operates metal thickness measurement equipment. Etching Lab Preps raw material for etching (clean, rack, etch parts). Applies basic chemistry principles for etching; uses processes such as etchback, chem-milling, duroid plate with nickel plating, etc. Performs pre-bake of substrates prior to saw cutting and final bake after saw cutting. Inspects etched parts; handles hazardous chemicals; identifies and packages substrates for stock. Mark-Up, Touch-Up And Chemfilm Lab Performs printing and application of thermal transfer polyimide labels using Codesoft 2021; trims labels as needed. Operates basic programming and familiarity with x-y-z axis using video ink jet marking. Performs inspection on painted and non-painted parts using microscope; mixes paints; uses small brushes to touch up parts. Inspects dry painted parts and conducts quality assurance for additional touch-up operations. Prepares aluminum surfaces using sandblaster, fiberglass pens or wire brush. Continues chemical conversion coatings on aluminum; handles hazardous chemicals. Inspects parts and conducts quality assurance for mark-up, touch-up and chemfilm processes. Performs masking and demasking per drawings and process requirements. All Processors Uses microscope for inspection of production units; references blueprints from satellite files for part production. Participates in safety training and adheres to safety policies and practices. Maintains 5S in the work area and suggests improvements. Participates in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own area and cross-functional problem solving events. Collaborates in team meetings and activities, including SET team support as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications can be acquired and demonstrated through experience, education and/or vocational training as noted. Three (3) years of experience in one of the labs mentioned above Detail-oriented; good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination High school diploma or equivalent required Preferred Experience in chemfilm Alodine solution Knowledge of x-y-z axis Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $19.40-$26.79/hour (San Diego).
