Plant General Manager
Location: Kansas City, MO
Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Reports To: Regional Plant Director
Salary Range: 110 – 130k (depending on experience)
Additional Incentive: 18% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP)
About the Role:
We are seeking a results-driven Plant General Manager to lead all operations at our Kansas City facility. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing plant performance, safety, compliance, and operational excellence while ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will bring a mix of strategic oversight and hands-on leadership to elevate plant performance and employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Workforce Development
Lead and coach plant managers/supervisors in planning, organizing, and performance management
Drive alignment with company values and strategic goals through effective leadership practices
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and succession planning
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
Operations Oversight
Manage all inbound, processing, and outbound waste activities
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (DOT, OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Monitor inventory, shipping, and waste treatment for compliance and efficiency
Maintain facility operations, manage budgets, and submit capital expenditure requests
Compliance & Safety
Implement and enforce safety protocols and corrective actions
Stay up to date on regulatory changes and train staff accordingly
Lead incident prevention and hazard mitigation initiatives
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as point of contact for plant-level customer issues
Ensure a responsive and service-focused approach to client needs
Represent plant interests in regional and organizational meetings
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
40-hour OSHA certification (current)
Valid driver’s license
Experience
7+ years of experience in plant operations or environmental services
7+ years of leadership experience managing people, budgets, and processes
Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations; experience with waste management systems
Skills & Competencies
Budget management and cost control expertise
Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills
Proficient in project management and data-driven decision-making
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement tools preferred
Ability to lead change, manage multiple priorities, and work cross-functionally
Travel: Up to 20%
Work Environment: Industrial/plant setting with required use of PPE as applicable
