Job Description

Job Description

Are you passionate about building strong relationships and being the face of a respected orthopedic specialty practice?

Hand to Shoulder Associates, a long-standing specialty group in Arlington Heights, IL, is widely recognized for expertise in hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder surgery, with a particular strength in treating work-related injuries. We combine clinical excellence with a patient-first approach, guiding injured workers toward recovery and a safe, timely return to work.

With a strong foundation and a trusted reputation in the Chicagoland area, we’re now looking to expand our reach and grow our network of referring partners, especially within the workers’ compensation community. The Physician Liaison role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of that growth, representing a respected leader in upper extremity care while building meaningful, high-impact professional relationships.

Position Overview

We’re seeking a natural connector to serve as a vital link between our specialty practice and external partners. This is a boots-on-the-ground, on-the-move field role, perfect for someone energized by face-to-face connections, not digital or social media marketing.

You’ll visit referral sources such as hospitals, urgent care centers, occupational health providers, workers’ compensation professionals, employers, attorneys, and physician practices. Your mission: make a great first impression, deepen connections, and streamline the referral process through consistent, in-person outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Relationship Management & Lead Generation – Build and maintain strong relationships with referring providers, case managers, attorneys, and other healthcare partners through regular in-person visits, consistent follow-up, and proactive outreach to identify new referral opportunities.
  • Local Travel – Visit partner offices across the Greater Chicago area and suburbs to reinforce our expertise, strengthen relationships, and drive referral growth through consistent in-person presence.
  • Scheduling & Coordination – Organize provider-to-provider meetings, manage calendars, and coordinate community and professional events.
  • Follow-Up & Support – Maintain ongoing communication after patient visits, ensuring all needed treatment recommendations and documentation are provided promptly.
  • Communication Management – Review, respond to, and route incoming messages related to care coordination, scheduling, and referrals.

Preferred Background

  • 2+ years in orthopedic practices, occupational health clinics, or medical/pharmaceutical sales
  • Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation systems strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success in relationship management and in-person outreach

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation needed (mileage reimbursed at current IRS rate)
  • 2+ years of client-facing or liaison experience in a healthcare setting
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Comfortable with flexible scheduling and regular local travel

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with performance-based bonus potential
  • Mileage reimbursement for local travel at the IRS reimbursement rate
  • Comprehensive healthcare and retirement benefits, including vacation and sick time.

Equal Opportunity Statement

Salary for this position is based on qualifications, skills, and experience. HSA is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and participates in E-Verify to ensure employment eligibility.
