Job Title: Pharmacy Technician

Location: 100 Madison Avenue, Atlantic Medical Group Hospitalists - Morristown, NJ 07960

Schedule: Night Shift | 8:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 7 Days On / 7 Days Off (Starting Thursdays)

Start Date: August 4, 2025

End Date: November 1, 2025

Hours: 36 hours per week | 10.5 hours per day

Position Summary:

Atlantic Medical Group Hospitalists in Morristown, NJ is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support our pharmacy operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining medication accuracy, efficiency, and safety across various pharmacy services. The ideal candidate is a dependable team player who can work independently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during overnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Medication Order Fulfillment

  • Accurately fill and prepare orders for pharmacist review and dispensing
  • Stock pharmacy areas and replenish carts, trays, and kits
  • Perform cart/bin exchanges, manage IV returns, and ensure timely medication availability

2. Distribution & Returns

  • Respond to requests professionally via phone, window, fax, and computer
  • Deliver medications via tube, courier, or hand delivery
  • Collect and sort returns from nursing stations

3. Team Collaboration

  • Support departmental goals and staff through teamwork and flexibility
  • Comply with coverage guidelines and support Atlantic Health initiatives

4. Sterile Preparations

  • Aseptically prepare IVs, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and hazardous drugs
  • Maintain batch logs, monitor IV rates, and coordinate treatments to minimize waste

5. Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM)

  • Accurately fill, troubleshoot, and maintain ADM units
  • Manage expired medications, discrepancies, and perform monthly inspections

6. Repackaging & Inventory

  • Repackage medications with accurate labeling and barcoding
  • Remove expired or recalled products and manage supply storage

7. Performance & Customer Service

  • Answer phone/window inquiries courteously and promptly
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and independent projects
  • Maintain professionalism with patients, coworkers, and healthcare providers

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)

Experience:

  • 2+ years of hospital pharmacy experience (preferred)
  • Oncology/infusion center experience (preferred)

Licensure & Certification:

  • Current active registration with the State of New Jersey Board of Pharmacy (required)
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification (preferred)
