Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is an innovative leading-edge college dedicated to student success. A trainer’s primary purpose is to design instruction and assessment in an engaging environment to foster learner success. A trainer continually improves the overall quality in the delivery of learning to support the achievement of college outcomes and priorities utilizing evidence to support decision-making. Trainers work in alignment with the college’s mission, vision, core values, and operating principles. Trainers are expected to provide service to the college community exemplified by teamwork, committee involvement, and participation in shared leadership activities. In addition, trainers commit to ongoing professional growth in both training and technical areas, as well as the development of their colleagues and teams. Essential functions include developing and revising curriculum with multicultural perspectives, core abilities, and technical content to meet industry or regulatory standards; utilizing engaging instructional strategies; providing feedback to students; complying with college policies related to instruction and assessment; providing customized welding training for marine manufacturing organizations; managing instructional processes and curriculum review; training on courses including Blueprint Reading, Welding (Cutting, Visual Inspection, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW), Metal Fabrication, and related Math; responding to emergency situations; and working primarily in the Sturgeon Bay area unless otherwise required. Minimum qualifications include two years of successful direct occupational experience or equivalent education and work experience, passing Practical Welding Testing, preferred recognized welding certifications (CWI, CWE), knowledge of ABS American Bureau of Rules and welding safety, ability to manage classroom and shop/lab environments, ability to weld out of position, and ability to work non-standard hours. Preferred qualifications include previous teaching experience with adult learners. Skills include supporting student success, collaboration, and upholding college values. Physical demands include mobility around campus and equipment, manual dexterity, wearing PPE, heavy lifting, and effective communication.
