OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY
Fox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.
JOB DESCRIPTION WTTG/WDCA – News Reporter (Per Diem Part-Time)
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus has a remarkable part-time opportunity for an experienced journalist to join our multi-media news team. FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is part of Fox Corporation and Fox Television Stations, world leading and valued media brands, airing the most hours of original programming in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia local television market.
We are looking for a creative, forward-thinking individual with an engaging personality that can ignite conversations and turn interviews into compelling, newsworthy stories. You are comfortable using various platforms to engage viewers and provide the most essential local news and information to the community. You are curious, agile, and innovative. You have a focus for delivering timely and accurate news. You have an eagerness to dominate and be the first to report breaking news. You know what is important to your audience.
Responsibilities:
An outstanding storyteller and live on-air performer with strong interviewing skills, solid journalistic judgment and the ability to ad-lib effectively.
Investigate, research, write and report against tight deadlines in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
Pitch powerful stories that uncover significant information that will receive attention.
Work cohesively with producers, editors and photographers to create captivating news stories and features, taped and live, to connect with the viewers and grow ratings.
Work accurately and efficiently within time constraints.
Work with social media to attract, inform and engage the audience.
Demonstrate success at developing and maintaining powerful story source networks.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field required.
3+ years of news experience in a medium to large market.
Recent experience and proficiency with newsroom computers, live news technology, and related software required.
Candidates must submit reel/link of recent work.
FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Candidates must have flexibility in scheduling evenings, early mornings, weekends as well as work all shifts in a 24/7/365 breaking news environment. Local/national travel. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and varied hours. Candidate will also be required to join the SAG-AFTRA Washington-Mid Atlantic Local union for the on-air news unit.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $50.50 per hour.
