Application Instructions Click the Apply Now Button Position Description Hunter Industries Ltd., a leading heavy highway and bridge construction company based in San Marcos, Texas, is currently seeking a skilled Distributor Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate is responsible for operating the equipment used for applying asphalt to highways, roadways, or airport runways. This position requires a strong understanding of heavy equipment operation and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Position Requirements Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Operate Distributor to spread asphalt on roadbeds, driveways and intersections Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project Operates distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill pressure tank with asphalt liquid Adhere to all safety protocols while operating heavy equipment and working on construction sites Regulates burner to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump Snap or screw on spray bars to attain required width of spray Regulate the flow of material at specified rate and adjust levers to height of spray bar from road surface Monitor flow gauges, tachometer and temperature gauge to ensure uniform distribution Perform daily maintenance of equipment to remain in proper and safe working order Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation Ability to travel and work away from home when required Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned Job Requirements: Must be able to move throughout a construction jobsite including climbing ladders, walking inclines, and lifting up to 50 lbs Adhere to all safety policies and report any unsafe activity to a supervisor or HR Actively contribute to team efforts to meet project goals and deadlines Lead by example and share knowledge with team members Qualifications: Related construction experience preferred Less than high school diploma accepted Proven ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety Manual dexterity to handle tools, equipment, and perform equipment inspections 2 years' experience with oil distributor operator Possess a Class B CDL with HazMat/Tankers endorsements Experience with dump truck operation and commercial driving is essential. Strong skills in heavy equipment operation, including loaders and other machinery used in construction Ability to build effective working relationships with team members Familiarity with construction site protocols and safety regulations is required Excellent communication and documentation skills Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work Ability to work independently and manage tasks to meet deadlines Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems in the field Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Must be willing to work weekends as needed Physical Activity & Work Environment: Heavy physical activity including strenuous, hands-on work throughout the day. Regular outdoor exposure to all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind. Exposure to loud noise, mechanical equipment, and elevated work areas.
