Health and Wellbeing Coach

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Health and Wellbeing Coach to join our team!
The YMCAfocuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

As a Health and Wellbeing Coach , you will be expected to serve and build relationships by connecting with members who struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You will guide and direct all fitness enthusiasts, regardless of fitness level, through YMCA programs. If hired, you will be expected to treat every participant fairly and equally regardless of circumstances and abilities, making each feel good about themselves while creating an encouraging and fun environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver equipment orientations
  • Teach and demonstrate proper form and technique
  • Assist with personalized workout routines
  • Ensure established safety guidelines are followed

  • You have a Bachelor's degreeortwo years of related knowledge and experience (preferred).
  • You have knowledge of basic health and fitness principles and components, exercise prescriptions, and strength training machines.
  • You are able to set an excellent example in health, fitness, and member service.
  • You have experience coaching and/or teaching group exercise classes (preferred).
  • You have YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise certification or equivalent (such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA) certifications (preferred).
  • You have a positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
  • You have current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications (preferred).
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • Able to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day of employment and other online or in-person training as required.

Wage: $16.66 to $17.16 per hour, depending on qualifications

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Haselwood Family YMCA, Silverdale, WA
