Reports To: CEO / Managing Director

About the Role

Were seeking a strategic and technically adept Fractional CTO/CIO to serve as the outsourced technology leader for 30+ external business clients. As part of a high-performing Managed Service Provider (MSP), youll guide client IT strategy, oversee technical account management, and drive innovation across diverse industries. This role blends executive-level influence with hands-on oversight of Microsoft and Cisco ecosystems, with a strong emphasis on IT security and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Technology Leadership

• Act as the virtual CTO/CIO for a portfolio of SMB and mid-market clients
• Develop and execute tailored IT roadmaps aligned with each clients business goals
• Lead quarterly strategic reviews and executive meetings with each client
• Advise on cloud adoption, infrastructure modernization, and digital transformation

Client Engagement & Technical Account Management

• Serve as the primary MSP contact person for assigned clients
• Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders, translating tech into business value
• Drive external client strategy, including budgeting, vendor selection, and innovation planning
• Ensure proactive communication and alignment across client and internal MSP teams

IT Security & Governance

• Champion robust cybersecurity practices across all client environments
• Implement security frameworks and incident response plans tailored to client risk profiles
• Ensure compliance with IT standards, processes and industry regulations
• Guide clients through business continuity and disaster recovery planning

Technology Oversight

• Lead architecture decisions and technology planning focused on:
  • Microsoft : Azure, Windows Server (on-prem), Office365
  • Cisco : WAN, Cisco virtual infrastructure, Cisco security products
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend scalable solutions
• Oversee vendor relationships and ensure optimal performance of tech ecosystems

Ideal Experience Snapshot:

• 10+ years in IT leadership roles (CTO, CIO, VP of IT), preferably across multiple locations; strong ability to multi-task, strong work ethic
• Strategic Acumen in IT Security, Network Infrastructure, LAN and WAN
• Proven ability to align technology with business outcomes
• Tech Fluency
• Expertise in Microsoft and Cisco platforms, cloud architecture, and cybersecurity
• External Client-Facing Skills
• Executive presence, consultative mindset, and strong communication skills
• MSP Familiarity
• Prior experience working within or alongside Managed Service Providers is a strong plus

Certifications : CISSP, CISM, TOGAF, or PMP but not required

Industry: Should come from Construction, Manufacturing, Oil/Gas, Transportation/Logistics or a similar tangible product industry, ideally with multiple locations and/or subsidiaries.
