Freedom Alliance makes a profound impact in the lives of combat veterans and military families, helping them overcome the wounds of war and providing college scholarships to the children of heroes who have sacrificed life or limb for our country. Title : Director of Philanthropy
Purpose of position : Generate revenue and lead a new era of growth to help Freedom Alliance make a life-changing impact on those we serve. The Director will guide a talented team of professionals to honor our supporters and maximize revenue from annual giving, foundations, corporations, major gifts, philanthropic events, special campaigns, and planned giving.
Key Responsibilities : The Director is responsible for increasing revenue in a respectful and ethical manner. The Director will help supporters achieve their philanthropic goals and experience joy in their giving, confident that they are contributing to the well-being of heroic individuals, a renewed sense of patriotism, and a desire to serve our nation. Ensure that philanthropy is consistent with the organization’s mission, vision and values.
The Director will be committed to, and passionate about, the mission of Freedom Alliance; understand the actual and prospective funding communities; and successfully identify, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of donors using multiple channels including personal visits.
Qualifications : Qualified candidates will have 6-8 years of development experience in a non-profit organization, a record of successful fundraising, and the ability to motivate and manage a team. Knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, with a strong background in major gifts is a must.
A positive demeanor, commitment to excellence, and collaborative spirit are essential. Candidate must have excellent communication skills – written and verbal; requisite computer skills; and be able to travel. The candidate will have strong planning skills, be able to prioritize activities to achieve goals in a timely manner, and a strong ethical compass. The Director will be proficient with Microsoft Office and Salesforce. He or she will effectively manage the development team, leverage resources, build strong relationships with staff, vendors, partners, and serve as a mentor.
