Role Description
This is an on-site Designer (Fashion) role located at our Hawthorne, CA office. Looking for a highly passionate and creative detail-oriented fashion designer, who will be responsible for designing the full collection – knits and wovens.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and develop the Michael Stars product lines according to market trends and the Michael Stars vision
- Research trends and bring in new ideas through competitive shopping; textile shows; reviewing trend services, tear sheets, magazines, trade journals and websites
- Assist in the development of seasonal color palettes and fabrications
- Communicate and work closely with tech designer and patternmakers
- Attend fittings
- Partner with tech design and merchandising to develop cost engineering to hit margins and retails
- Create and maintain design tech packs
- Meet all deadlines on design calendar
- Illustrator and free-hand flat sketching
- Research trims, fabrics and sourcing
- Make product presentations to internal team members
- Design specials outside of seasonal collections
- Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- BA Degree from Art and Design College
- Creative visionary with a minimum of 5 years’ design experience within the contemporary market
- Proficient with Microsoft office, Illustrator, and Photoshop
- Ability to handle multi-faceted projects with strong follow through
- Able to work independently, as well as collaborate as a team player
