Role Overview

BenchPrep is looking for a hardworking, ambitious Staff/Senior Accountant to support its growing operations. You will report to the Controller and play a pivotal role in our finance team, a focus on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, analyzing data, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Youll contribute to budgeting, forecasting, audits, and process improvements, supporting our financial health and strategic decisionmaking.

Responsibilities

• Manage accounting function including account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and billing
• Analyze and review company expenditures, confirming proper allocation of expenses to the various departments and reporting to them as necessary
• Review transactions to ensure accounting treatment is in accordance with GAAP and company policies and procedures
• Analyze billing transactions to ensure proper allocation of revenue recognition policies
• Review general ledger accounts and make all necessary journal entries, including posting monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals
• Assist in building financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position, as well as budget variance analysis
• Assist in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management
• Prepare yearend schedules for the annual tax returns
• Look for ways to improve upon accounting processes and procedures

Skills and Experience

• Bachelors degree in accounting; CPA preferred
• 35 years (Staff Accountant) or 58 years (Senior Accountant) in accounting or auditing; public accounting experience preferred
• Team player with a positive attitude toward contributing and learning
• Thorough knowledge and experience in financial statement preparation, GAAP, and revenue recognition
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
• Selfstarter, quick learner, and ability to multitask on a regular basis
• Detailoriented with excellent organizational skills and deadlinedriven
• Capacity to thrive in a fastpaced environment
• Strong sense of ownership on issues and following through to completion
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience working in accounting systems (NetSuite, Intacct, QuickBooks, etc.) strongly preferred

Salary

The salary range for this position is $65,000 $85,000, based on Chicago market data.
