This position can be located at our Jeffersonville, OH or Wilmington, OH manufacturing complexes with a hybrid weekly work schedule.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the planning and purchasing of Packaging and/or Raw Materials. This position is also responsible for supporting the team members with process oversight/improvement and direct coordination with the Plant Production, SI&OP teams, Product Management, Quality, Sourcing and Inventory Control.

Your primary duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and maintain healthy supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate all activities involved with planning and ordering raw materials and/or packaging to meet the needs of the business ensuring no risk to the supply chain.
  • Advises management and appropriate parties of material events that can potentially disrupt the production plans.
  • Confer with vendors to obtain product information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Apply best practices to optimize the order planning, buying, and inventory management of assigned materials.
  • Manages key master data for SKU’s including lead time, order quantity, safety stock, and price.
  • Lives the company’s mission, vision, and values while meeting the responsibilities of the position.
  • Use formal systems and processes to analyze production demand, place material orders, schedule deliveries, and manage on-hand and off-site inventories.
  • Actions are taken in direct support of company goals for schedule adherence, obsolete write-off, purchase price variance, on-time & in full deliveries, cash flow, and warehouse space utilization.
  • Organize and lead calls or meetings as needed for 6 categories, Decision making (ii) Problem solving (iii) Innovation (iv) Kick off/next steps (v) Alignment (vi) Status update.
  • Schedules and expedites the approval of materials to support the production schedule and other project-based initiatives.
  • Partner with AP and inventory control for invoicing issues to help provide resolution.
  • Provide back-up coverage for other Buyers.

Educational Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years’ buyer/planner manufacturing experience is preferred. Or 7+ years of relevant or transferable experience in manufacturing environment (without bachelor’s degree)
  • Experience:
  • Experience using an ERP system; JDE experience a plus.
  • Understanding of material requirement concepts.
  • Strong communication, planning, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Proficient to advanced with MS Excel and proficient with MS Office (Word, Outlook)
  • Be flexible enough to change with an ever-changing business environment.

Success Measurements

30 day

  • Learn all JDE transactions relevant to the role (training will be provided)
  • Complete Meet and Greets with most of the relevant stakeholders and understand what they are looking for from the buyer.
  • Spend enough time on the shop floor and understand the production processes and materials you will be managing.

60 day

  • Start creating purchase orders and managing inventory levels for material needs with some supervision and assistance.
  • Active with team, participating in meetings and adding input to meetings and discussions.
  • Understand forecasts, buyer report and tools provided to manage inventory.

90 days

  • Start to be self-sufficient in managing materials, order placement, deliveries and actively engaged with suppliers.
  • Start to identify areas for improvements, best practice evaluations.
  • Have an established weekly routine.
