Board Certified Radiologists (1099)

Pay rate: $350.00 per hour (1099).

Duration: 1 year.

Locations: Columbia, SC.

Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday. On-call 4:30 pm to 8:00 am weekdays. Weekend call: 4:30pm Friday to 8:00am Monday.

  • Clinic or OR Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday.
  • Patients must be seen by a physician(s) on-site at the facility in a timely manner in accordance with VA Rules and Regulations on clinic wait times and consult/order completion. 
  • Shall be available and present in clinic during normal facility clinic hours which will be established, and may be revised, as deemed appropriate for patient care by the Chief of Staff. Currently, normal clinic hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday.

Off-hours coverage : 4:30pm to 8:00am weekdays. Weekend call begins at 4:30pm Friday and end at 8:00am Monday. Must make the physician(s) available on-call during all hours when the facility clinic is closed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Call is assigned per week.

  • On-call Physicians must be available at all times for phone consultations with VA residents and Physicians.
  • On-call providers must be available within 15 minutes by phone and on-site within 60 minutes.

Description:

Board Certified Radiologists. Abdominal/GU, Breast Imaging, Cardiovascular, General, Interventional, Musculoskeletal, Neuroradiology, and Authorized User (AU) Radiology Physician Services on site in accordance with the specifications contained herein to beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Qualifications:

License : Shall have a current license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.

All licenses held by the key personnel shall be full and unrestricted licenses. Physicians who have current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this requirement. All licenses held by Physician must be current and in good standing.

Board certification : Shall be Board Certified per the American Board of Radiology (). All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times. 

Responsibilities:

Direct patient care : Estimated 95% of the time involved in direct patient care. Physicians shall be responsible for:

Scope of care: Shall be responsible for providing general and interventional Radiology procedures, including, but not limited:

  • Diagnostic Radiology.
  • Ultrasound.
  • Computed Tomography (CT).
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Nuclear Medicine (Nuc Med).
  • Interventional Radiography (IR).

Consultation responsibilities : Shall provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for general, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuc med, and IR radiologic procedures so that the most expeditious and clinically appropriate work-up can be done.

  • Shall determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
  • Shall provide review of consults/orders and next- day patient cases for minimum of two hours daily.
  • Shall provide post-procedure evaluation and follow-up and clinical consultation regarding complications of interventional radiologic procedures.

Discharge education : Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.

Specialized meetings: Shall prepare for, attend and take care of follow up activities resulting from the following specialized meetings: List all meetings, associated time and frequency.

Patient safety compliance and reporting : Shall follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care. Physicians shall make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breeches of patient safety shall be documented in the medical record of those impacted and disclosed to the patient or surrogate. As soon as practicable (but within 24 hours).
