Overview Associate Director – Foreign Trade Zone (Hybrid) within Merck. The role is a key Trade team member within the Logistics & Regions Org of the companyI'ms Research & Development Global Clinical Supply Chain. Core responsibilities include full ownership and accountability of several FTZs and leading establishment of new FTZs as required. The ideal candidate will apply FTZ expertise to proactively identify opportunities for use, align with enterprise-wide initiatives, and ensure no conflicts with broader efforts and business strategies. A high degree of proactivity and trade compliance rigor is required. The successful candidate will have a track record of establishing and maintaining business relationships and partnerships, proactively understanding business activities, and assessing FTZ use. The role requires independent management of responsibilities and priorities, strong FTZ/trade and customs skills, effective collaboration with team, stakeholders and external authorities. Responsibilities Accountability and end-to-end ownership of several FTZs, ensuring compliant use and record keeping Act as the FTZ administrator for Rahway and West Point sites and perform all CBP regulatory activities to maintain FTZ compliance, including inventory tracking and reconciliations of FTZ materials with CBP Act as FTZ lead at internal and external audits Collaborate with Global Trade to ensure alignment on FTZ strategies Manage the Zone-related content on team sites Respond to questions and queries relating to FTZs within ownership Interface with Global Trade, Finance, Tax and the various businesses to inform FTZ activities and ensure compliance Design and maintain streamlined FTZ-related processes and procedures; provide training as required Coordinate with Global Trade on prior/voluntary disclosure efforts on Zone issues, if required, and manage disclosure-related CAPA Create and maintain internal procedures covering the process steps of key activities Understand and interpret applicable legislation and monitor Zone-related changes in collaboration with Global Trade; communicate changes to the business Ensure FTZ transactions are submitted compliantly with our brokers, including FTZ admissions, withdrawals, exports, zone transfers, and destructions Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree required Advanced degree preferred Trade-related certificate desirable 6+ years of international trade or equivalent experience Developed conceptual and practical expertise in Zone issues (preferred) Prior experience interfacing with international companies Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office products Proficient in English Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills Experience with global trade management systems like SAP GTS or OneSource or similar databases desirable Strong project management skills and ability to conduct complex reporting Sustained high performance Awareness of diversity and inclusion #eligibleforERP #GCScareer Current Employees apply HERE Current Contingent Workers apply HERE US And Puerto Rico Residents Only Our company is committed to inclusion, and we provide accommodations during the application or hiring process upon request. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $114,700.00 – $180,500.00. The final offer will be determined based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs.
