This is a rare opportunity to join the leadership team at WWMT in West Michigan! News Channel 3 is looking for an aggressive and engaging Assistant News Director for our content team. The ideal candidate will have strong editorial news judgment and leadership skills, working with reporters, photographer/editors, anchors, producers and our digital content team on daily news coverage. We are looking for someone who will work closely with the News Director in carrying out news philosophy and direction. This person must be proficient in creative writing, copy editing, enterprising stories and be committed to managing compelling newscasts. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and have the ability to coach and mentor. We want someone who embraces social media and understands how to consistently engage with the audience across all platforms. Responsibilities include: Aggressively lead breaking news and severe weather coverage Work closely with news director to carry out news philosophy and direction Oversee newscasts, copy edit scripts Work with staff to ensure quality control Manage fleet of vehicles Help lead and mentor photojournalists Work with news director and managers on special newsroom projects Other responsibilities as assigned Requirements include: Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field Must have a working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel and privacy laws Exceptional written communication skills using a conversational writing style Strong people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating Sinclair is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.
