This is professional legal work of difficult and responsible nature in performing legal services for the County. Work involves responsibility for performing a wide variety of complex professional legal duties which include providing sound and effective legal services for all county departments. Work also includes drafting of ordinances and other documents, and the rendering of significant legal opinions. Work is performed with considerable independence within the framework of established policies requiring considerable initiative and judgment. Work is reviewed by an administrative superior through conferences, observation, and evaluation of reports and through analysis of results obtained. Education and Experience: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Three (3) years of experience Preferred: Governmental law experience Licenses and/or Certificates: Must maintain a valid driver’s license. Active member in good standing with the Florida BAR. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures. Knowledge of modern office practices, plans, and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related computer programs and software applications. Prepares and reviews all ordinances, resolutions, contracts, deeds, leases, and other legal documents requested by the Board of County Commissioners, County Administrator or the management staff. Performs legal research and prepares legal opinions for County departments, boards, and agencies. Conducts in-depth research Performs related work as assigned.
